- Short sale – Were you aware that a Short Sale on your credit report can lower your credit score by 160 points? Yep it sure can and that is a HUGE HIT! And it stays on the report for years. So let’s look at this example a little closer…..
- According to the bureau’s the word “Short Sale” is not part of their vocabulary. The bureaus have account status codes that they use for communication with furnishers and for reporting purposes. If an account has been sent to collections it is coded with a certain 2-digit code the furnisher sends to the credit bureaus to show the account was sent to collections. Here’s the SPOILER ALERT….When it comes to Short Sales….there is NO code…..It doesn't exist! Since the bureaus don’t have a status code they almost always report them as FORECLOSURES. And there lies the LEGAL ERROR in reporting a Short Sale to the credit bureaus. Fair Credit Reporting Act states that everything reported must be accurate and true and a Short Sale reported as a Foreclosure is not true. So, then it’s time to get down to business to work to get it removed.
- Once removed, look at what a jump the credit score could make?
- This is only one example of mistakes on credit bureaus. And the removal is NOT an overnight process. It WILL take time, patience, and persistence.
I’ve been in the Financial Services industry for 20 years and each year I try to help as many people as possible when it comes to financial education. Teaching them about credit bureaus, how credit works, etc. There is A LOT of uneducated people when it comes to credit which is sad, hence why I believe there is such an issue with credit and today’s customers. Sometimes the best lessons are the hardest however you should not have to pay for it for an entire lifetime.
Credit Repair Resources, LLC was created to help customers become more educated around the credit bureaus and the credit process/industry. I provide a NO COST consultation where the client will set up time with me and I will provide them an analysis of where they are at with their credit, if there are any inaccuracies that my company can help fix, any advice we can provide them to improve their score and put them in a better position in life. They can take this info and do what they would like to with it. If there are things on their bureau that we can remove we will do it. At that point the fee’s will start with a $100 sign up fee and $75 per month going forward until they feel our services are no longer needed. I am not tying any customer to a contract as it’s month to month billing. But remember, 6-18 months it could take to really boost that score, it will just depend on many factors.
